Dessa Woods retires nearing 26 years of service
Tribune, KS, Apr. 24, 2012– Dessa Woods, in charge of Accounts Payable and Purchasing, is retiring after 25 years and 6 months of service with Greeley County Health Services. Woods’s last day is Wednesday, April 25th.
Woods began working for Greeley County Health Services on October 31, 1986 as an aid. She worked for five years in the position and then moved to her current position as head of Accounts Payable and Purchasing.
“The last 25 years has gone by fast, really fast. I have really enjoyed most of it,” Woods said.
Woods said that a lot has changed in the healthcare field since she began working in the 1980’s.
“This job has changed a lot. There is more paperwork, more ordering, more doctors, and a lot more supplies to keep up with for all of the different doctors,” Woods said.
After retiring, Dessa said she plans to hang out around the house and do whatever she wants to.
“It doesn’t feel like it’s been 25 years. I have really enjoyed working most of the time and have really enjoyed most of the people,” Woods said.
Greeley County Health Services is hosting a Farewell function at 2 p.m. on Tuesday April 24, in the Hospital’s cafeteria. The celebration is to honor Dessa Woods and her work, and all GCHS employees and the public is invited to come.
